Our team analysed the Internal Audit Report of Kapaleeswarar Temple and identified critical governance, property, revenue, and compliance issues.
The initiative culminated in a High Court direction requiring the HR&CE Department to address the identified anomalies and report compliance.
Following HR&CE audit findings on operational and financial deficiencies at Mylapore’s historic Kapaleeswarar Temple, our team reviewed the report and submitted representations demanding systemic administrative reforms. To enforce accountability, we filed a writ petition before the Madras High Court.
On April 29, 2026, the court directed the HR&CE
Department to examine the audit findings, consider our
representations, and issue a reasoned order within a fixed timeframe
of 3 months. The project now monitors compliance with judicial
directions, leveraging professional expertise and citizen oversight
to safeguard temple assets, improve revenue management, and establish
a scalable governance model for public religious institutions across
Tamil Nadu.
On completion of 3 months on 29.7.26 we have also
issued a contempt notice on Commissioner HRCE that the court order
has not been complied with, and we would initiate contempt
proceedings.
